Our company, DINOFLEX GROUP LP, produces Sport Mat Flooring from recycled tire rubber. The Sport Mat Flooring product consists of 38” x 38” or 37” x 37” rubber mats. It is composed of up to 90% recycled black tire rubber and approximately 10% polyurethane binder.
Colored rubber granules (EPDM), can be added to the product to compliment the décor or company colors.
During installation, adhesive can be used, but may also be omitted by utilizing interlocking mats, manufactured using our in–house CNC water–jet technology.
MATERIAL AND RESOURCES: LIFE CYCLE EVALUATION OF MATERIALS
Under normal type of foot traffic and wear, rubber flooring typically outlasts carpet and linoleum floors. The mats can be managed in such a way that their life-span is doubled and even tripled. This is achieved by moving the interlocking pieces away from high traffic zones and exchanging them with other interlocking mats from low traffic zones. In addition, the interlocking mats are reversible and easy to re-install if needed, thus extending the life span by at least 100%.
DINOFLEX interlocking (4SI) flooring tiles can be removed from one location or building and re-installed in another. This is an especially attractive feature for those end users who lease their facilities, but have to purchase the flooring at their own expense.
ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE MATERIALS: RAW MATERIAL ACQUISITION
- As previously stated, up to 90% (by weight) of our DINOFLEX flooring consists of recycled, post-consumer tire rubber.
- Certain DINOFLEX rubber products contain up to 80% of internally recycled waste (post consumer and/or post industrial), the remainder being post consumer recycled tire rubber.
ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE MATERIALS: TRANSPORTATION
- With the exception of the colored rubber granules, all of our raw and packaging materials come from suppliers within a 500 mile radius.
- DINOFLEX has purchased a shredder and a granulator for regrinding factory scraps, waste and seconds generated during the manufacturing process. Owning this machinery has eliminated the need for transporting the post industrial scraps to the nearest shredding facility and then trucking the granules back to DINOFLEX. This is saving approximately 11,500 road miles per year.
ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE MATERIALS: USE
- DINOFLEX Rubber Flooring Products are virtually maintenance free, which is a distinguishing feature compared to all other kinds of flooring.
- Maintenance is by damp mopping but for many installations this is not required. A mild soap can be added to the water but this is not required, either.
- No waxing, stripping, or coating necessary.
- DINOFLEX Rubber Flooring Products reduce noise pollution not only within the same room or hallway, but also noise transference from one floor to next below.
ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERABLE MATERIALS: EXTENDED LIFECYCLE
- Once the Recycled Rubber Flooring is no longer being used, all mats can be shipped back to DINOFLEX for recycling. Our recycling consists of chopping up the old floor by using our in-house shredder and granulator. The resulting materials are then used in manufacturing our other environmentally friendly rubber products.
- Should any DINOFLEX tiles end up in a landfill site, versus being recycled, they will not decompose. However, they will also not cause any harmful discharges into the soil, air, or water.
